Every year, thousands of college seniors within striking distance of completing their academic program are prevented from graduating because they owe a relatively small balance to their school. In partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Great Lakes is funding a $4 million grant to the 11-college University Innovation Alliance (UIA) to address the issue. The colleges that make up the alliance will pilot completion grant programs aimed at helping near-graduation students facing financial challenges to reach the finish line.
